History
So...where did we come from?
No, I don’t mean that way. I mean as a Union. It was decided that we provide a short history of our Union and I volunteered. My name is Mike, the Member At Large Region 2. Technically, I have been a member of this Union since 1987, so I have a little knowledge on the subject . The Montana Federation of Public Employees, or MFPE for short, is made up of Two Unions that all merged together in 2018. The reason was to unite all of the groups that were represented separately into one large strong Union. With the Teachers Union (MEA-MFT), Public employed teamsters, and any others such as Dispatchers, Police and Sheriff’s Departments and many other public employees, like us (MPEA)). With all of us under the same umbrella, working together for ourselves and each other.
By having such a diverse group under one banner, we have become 25,000 members strong and each local, and each member can draw from strength for negotiations, discipline issues and all the benefits that are offered. None of our locals should feel as if they are too small to make a difference or that they don’t seem to have a voice in their Union.
I invite all of you to check out our web page at WWW.MFPE.COM. You can get more information on who we are, where we are going, and how you can help. There you will also find a list of all the discounts we receive on products and services, real discounts, not just the old $2.00 off here and there. Two of our biggest benefits are the student loan forgiveness program and the Free college classes, yes, FREE. But you will have to check out the web site for details. So, if you are not a member yet, come on and join a winning team; Team MFPE.
